What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the process of cultivating nonjudgmental awareness of one's present moment experience. It is a powerful way to reduce stress, develop greater balance and gain the ability to respond to life's challenges with increased flexibility.
The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course
The course consists of 8 weekly sessions, each lasting 2 1/2 hours, and one day-long session. Practices include guided instruction in various forms of mindfulness meditation and mindful movement, including gentle yoga. Application to experiences of daily living occurs through weekly instruction, group dialogue and daily homework assignments.
The course fee is $250 and includes a workbook, 5 practice Cd's, and Full Catastrophe Living by Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of MBSR. The course is modeled after the renowned Stress Reduction Clinic, established in 1979, at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

April Hadley, MSW
April received her MSW from Grand Valley State University in 2001. After practicing with several local nonprofit organizations, she is now exclusively teaching groups and coaching individuals in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
